Science Fiction Romance Brigade Presents--

An Excerpt from Kybernatia--

Kybernatia, an aquamarine-blue planet with islands and continents of sandy gold and dark brown, filled the view screen. Happy people with large white perfect smiles romped through scenes of beautiful sandy beaches while sapphire blue water washed upon their tan bodies. Lush forests and cozy mountain getaways flashed, wrapping up the almost Edenic view of this once beautiful planet. The commercial ended slowly for Gabrielle. It brought back all the memories she had for the little planet that had been devoid of all forms of life. A sober-faced reporter appeared upon the screen pulling her from her memories and bringing her back to the present as he grimly stated the realities of the horrific planetary accident.

“You're not exactly fired, but we think it‟s best that you move on,” Dr. Linwood said, interrupting the news anchor's controlled-yet-cool delivery of the news.

Dr. Linwood appeared sympathetic to her plight, but she knew he was just covering his back. It was, after all, Washington, D.C., and if you didn't cover your backside, someone else would do it for you.

Still, she tried to hide her surprise. Couldn‟t he had at least have waited until all the people had been removed from the planet before kicking me to the curb? All of a sudden, their playful banter and office talk seemed like it was just that: talk. They hadn‟t been friends as she had hoped.

Unable to speak, Gabrielle Burle continued to stare at the disturbing and tragic images on the view screen inside her office. Emergency craft of all shapes and sizes sped to the planet as smoke and plumes of ash erupted from its surface. They could see the hospital ships close in as the wounded and seriously injured were brought aboard for care.

Gabrielle gazed helplessly at the scene. The once-promising new home for humanity went up in smoke, right before her eyes, along with any hopes of ever working in Washington again.

Blurb:

Kybernatia was supposed to be humanity’s newest paradise but that dream is all but gone. Ruined in a horrible terra forming accident, the planet was deemed no longer fit for humanity. Gabrielle Burle, project manager for the development of the planet, was forced out of her job as a veil of secrecy suddenly shrouded the planet.

Determined to find the truth, Gabrielle goes on a journey of discovery that leads to the one man with all the answers.

Sneak Peek Sunday

A Sneak Peek at my latest WIP!   ( A little over the limit but I know you will enjoy.)

Happy Reading!

“This one is definitely a member of a Kith,” Tom said pointing to the boyish looking one with a crew cut and several tattoos on his arm and one on his hand. “And the other...”

He paused pushing up the left sleeve of the other who wore the same tattoo as the first one's.

“--Is also member of the same kith. Looks like we've got a progenitor in our midst,” he finished and stood, wiping the dust and gravel off his pants.

“Who's their Sachem?” Frank asked. He knew of only one in the area, his own and he was standing in front of him. Having been a faithful member of his Kith for three decades, he wasn't aware of anyone else within the town's territorial bounds who would consider scioning in the area for fear of the mayor's influence and power as the lead alpha male in the community.

Tom thought for a moment. A wry grin crawled across his mustached mouth. “You won't believe it.”

    “Try me,” Frank said.

“Mcclain. I remember seeing this on my brother before I had him banished.” Tom folded his arms and scratched gray and white whiskers above his lip. “He's Wayne and Florence's son. You remember them? Their beta died some years back some sort of accident, scared the kid really bad.”

“Oh yes I remember hearing about that. Surprised the old guy survived the death of his Beta, he must be tougher than he let's on,” Frank replied .

“Anyways their son left years ago then moved back to town recently. Brought a Dam and a Sire with him, he picked up in his travels. Remember, Susie officiated at their ceremony,” Tom said rubbing his chin, apparently lost in thought. “Had no idea he produced scions until I caught my brother associating with him. He swore to me that he was the only one Mcclain scion. I guess he lied to protect him.”

He thought momentarily and chuckled. “I suspect Mcclain acquired the taste for scioning while away. He definitely didn't get it from his father.”

“You think he's gonna be pissed?” Frank asked propping his rifle on his hip.

As a rule most males Kithed when they were young and single, not after they married.    Usually it was because the need to create scions was quashed by the desire to procreate. Either Mcclain didn't have any desire to make children of his own or his drive to scion was a hell of a lot stronger than most. His scions were causing trouble which meant if he didn't get a handle on it, he was the next target in front of his scope.

“I'd would. So you can imagine how he'll feel,” Tom replied, “but the law is the law around here. Can't get around that.”

My Latest Book- Cold Warriors is Out and Scorching!

Can a war and societal prejudice keep two people apart?  It's 2095 and Caitlin Driskoll has discovered that life has changed but for the better?  She's not so sure.  Escaping one prejudice and awaking to another, she finds her world turned upside down when she falls for a tough Marine who has no desire to fall in love with a woman who doesn't play by the rules.

~Excerpt~

He didn’t know what to say. His first clash with her had distracted him to the point of madness. It had been some time since he’d had such a powerful encounter with a woman. The last one to push his buttons that hard, he wound up marrying.

Caitlin was stubborn, mouthy, somewhat insubordinate, and filled with an innate force he had not seen in sometime. She had no problem in standing up for who or what she believed in. He didn’t like the feelings she stirred in him. He dare not consider them. Especially with her. She was a subordinate and a cryo. It was against regulations for him to even think of starting anything with her.

He shifted his stance. His heart pounded in his ears and breaths quickened. “Ms. Driskoll. I don’t know what you expect from me.”

“Nothing more than I expect from myself.”

Before he knew it, he crossed the distance between them and swept her into a searing kiss. He caressed her body, touching every curve. Arousal sped through his body like lightening. He dug his fingers in her hair and hungrily dominated her mouth, his tongue delving in, playing with hers. Gripping her waist, he lifted her up and placed on her the table. She arched her neck exposing her creamy skin. He nipped and bit at it enjoying its smoothness. He reached up and caressed her breasts, a need filling him to see them, taste them.

He was ready to slip off into oblivion when he remembered himself. It was the middle of the day; they were in a briefing room and would be caught. Breaking off the kiss, he raised his hands in surrender.

“Jesus,” he said in between breaths.

“What?” she panted, as she straightened her uniform.

“Please leave. Just go.” He closed his eyes, wrestling his feelings into submission. Holding them down, he shuddered. Dear God, help me. He needed her so badly. His breathing slowed to a normal rate. When he opened his eyes, she was gone.

“Sir, you’re needed on the bridge,” the voice on the com said.

“Be right there,” he replied, grateful for the distraction.
