Book Review- Five Stars for An Idyllic Affair by ML Skye and Skye Ritchey

An Idyllic Affair by M.L. Skye
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

All may not be what it seems. The island takes care of her own. The mysterious island that the crew of The Charming Lady lands on is a sanctuary with a secret. And it's precisely what Captain Geoff Macleod and his Executive Officer Linnea Jensen needs to ignite their simmering romance.

I have always been a fan of military style romances and this book definitely feeds my obsessive craving. It opened with action and suspense that kept me glued to the pages. And the sizzling electricity between Geoff and Linnea was so hot it burned up the pages especially when they got to the island!

I have to say Isula Ara is one place I'd love to spend my vacation especially if included a man who was like Geoff Macleod.

Overall the action was steady. The story was gripping and the characters were well developed including the island that seemed to be a character itself. Oh and I can't forget the island's mysterious care taker Ceet, he was kooky and entertaining.

I recommend that you read this book!

I look forward to reading more work from Ms. Ritchey.

Five Stars!

Sneak Peek Sunday- A Snippet From My WIP- Futuristic BDSM Romance

The first book in my futuristic erotic romance series is untitled as is the series. This is because I name the book and consequently the series after the first book is done.  Only then am I able to see the lives of the characters more clearly.

So here is a quick look at the first book in my erotic futuristic romance series.  This book has BDSM elements.

Excerpt

Broderick sipped his beer.  Slightly on the warm side, it was a bit more pleasant than the scotch he'd been drinking earlier.  Not much of a whisky drinker, he'd developed a taste for beers and ales when he was in the Hekademos.  Once he became of age, he often frequented the pubs in town with Pezal and a few of their friends and unwound with a few beers. It was the only way he'd been able to bear their rigid structure. Unfortunately, their style of teaching was replicated at the UEMF academy ultimately becoming a permanent part of himself.

Joette settled in beside him.  He was happy Pezal had finally gotten the message and introduced them.  It wasn't that he was shy, he'd just grown reticent of approaching women outside of their known circle.  It had been a long time for him to get past the mishap that happened ten years ago.  And now that happiness had returned, he did not want to risk losing it again with someone with a  potentially biased opinion.

But she held none of that.  He saw it in her eyes and the way that she looked at him, especially when they were on the balcony.  Her sweet, submissive demeanor instantly rose his protective instincts within him.  He saw himself wrapping his arms around her and shielding her from the dangers of the world.  Only asking that she never let go in return.  He wanted her. He had to have her.

Everyone laughed jarring his thoughts back to the moment.

“When he turned down an assignment on the mighty Kroaschiral,” Pezal said, “Captain Mon was floored.  Or so that's how he tells it.”

“I'm not interested in leaving the Kar Dao.  She's just the way I want her and the idea of some young kid coming in and messing up my ship--,” Nicolas Edner said.  The ship's head engineer and Pezal's boyfriend, the two were very much in love.

Broderick cleared his throat.

“Sorry, Commander,” he said smirking.  “I meant your ship.”

“Actually, I did that because a bitter from this tawdry ale you've been serving became lodged in the back of my throat,” Broderick said frowning at the bottle.  “But I get your meaning.”

“Of course,” Nicolas said shooting him a weary glance.

Everyone laughed.

“What?” Broderick asked setting the bottle aside.

“Let's be honest, we all know how you are,” Nick added.

Feigning innocence he shrugged his shoulders.  “I've no idea what your talking about.”

The remaining members of the crew groaned in protest around him.  Surrounded by his entire crew, they were more than just co-workers to Broderick. They were his family.  The ship was not only where they worked, he considered it be their home.

“The ship is ours not mine,” Broderick said resting his arm on the sofa back.  It nestled easily behind Joette.
He hoped she was enjoying herself as much as he.

“Though you rule it with an iron fist,” Pezal added.

“I'm thorough not maniacal.”

Everyone laughed even louder.

“With that admission, I am turning in,” Nick said standing.  “I will see most of you tomorrow.”  He paused and glanced at his watch.  “Or shall I say later.”

He leaned down and kissed Pezal.

“I'll be in after I clean up,” Pezal replied.

He looked at his watch.  It was after one a.m.

“You know I should get going as well,” Joette said rising.  “Thank you for inviting me I had a good time.”

“Did you?” Pezal asked kissing her on the cheek.

“Yes I really did.  I'm glad.”

“I'll be leaving as well,” Broderick said as the rest gathered their things.

He had an important meeting to attend and the last thing he wanted to do was to be too drowsy to pay attention.

“Okay, see you at headquarters tomorrow,” Pezal said flashing him a wry grin.  He then jerked his in Joette's direction.

Broderick frowned.  “Looking forward to it.”

Joette grabbed her jacket off the arm of the sofa.  Broderick held open the door as they stepped into the hallway.

“I'll take you home,” he said finally speaking.

“That won't be necessary,” she replied not wanting to seem too needy.

“Pezal brought you here did he not?”

“Yes, but really it's no problem I can take a cab.”

“I insist.”

All Tied Up by Kaenar Langford

Blurb

As a government agent, Naymeen Renaud's mission is to belay Aiden Blackshott's role in treasonous activities. So how does she end up in the wealthy businessman's playroom, tethered for his pleasure?

Captain Naymeen Renaud's current assignment for the United League of Veluvian Planets is to thwart any contact between forces hostile to the League, and wealthy industrialist Aiden C. Blackshott. But she soon finds herself straddling a line between duty and lust. She loves it when Aiden captures and pleasures her in his sex playroom. But she suspects her new lover has ties to her former partner, now a rogue agent, she has sworn to bring in.

Aiden also has a mission, one which threatens to fall apart when Naymeen appears the very evening he will play his final role in his assignment. When he allows her to kidnap him to keep her from upsetting carefully laid plans, she whisks him to her star cruiser and ties him to her bed so she can return the favour. She wants to believe in him, but in the end, is he betraying her just as her comrade did?

Excerpt

From her place of concealment deep in the shadows, Naymeen watched the little man nervously pace the tiny landing bay. It was obvious, from the way he stayed out in the open, he wasn’t a soldier. No soldier would have made himself such an easy target. Lucky for him, no one was even aware of his arrival. Lucky for him—but luckier for her.

He whirled as she moved forward from her hiding place. A look of alarm crossed his face as he took in the black torso armour and the gun in the holster on her hip. His voice trembled as he spoke. “You’re not the person I’m supposed to meet.”

She shook her head.

He stepped back.

She snorted at his attempt to put some distance between them and advanced on him.

His face paled, the colour leaching from his flabby skin. “Are you here to kill me?”

He didn’t know that wasn’t to be his fate, that he was only a means to an end.

A tight smile lifted her lips. Yet it must have done little to reassure him, as his voice quivered when he asked again, “Are you going to kill me?”

She gave him his reprieve. “Not this time.”

He looked relieved—but not for long.

“I’m well aware you’re here from Jaehdang,” Naymeen went on, “a planet that is under sanction by the United League of Veluvian Planets, to enter into clandestine negotiations with Mr. A. C. Blackshott, one of the wealthiest men in the galaxy. Therefore, you are definitely persona non grata here on Gheldar.”

If possible, he grew even whiter as she revealed the details of his supposedly covert mission.

“Do you really think the League would allow a meeting to take place between an envoy from a hostile planet and a man with an unlimited cash flow?” Naymeen shook her head for emphasis. “It just doesn’t seem like a good thing. So that’s why I’m here.”

Her leather boots nudged his fancy shoes as she invaded his space. “It’s my job to encourage you to go back home. Or, if necessary, persuade you a bit more forcefully.”

Now she was afraid, from the look on his face, the poor creature was going to faint.

“I’m not a killer, Mr. Chengalie. At least, not this time.” He started, but whether at her use of his name or at the reference to her status as a ‘sweeper’ for the League, she couldn’t be sure. Yet she wondered why he was surprised. It was obvious she knew everything about his task, and it also was obvious that, considering whom he was meeting, the League would send in an enforcer, a cleaner-upper of the situation, as it were.

Naymeen was still annoyed they hadn’t allowed Blackshott and the envoy to get together so she could find out the purpose of the meet, but the group seemed more concerned with prevention. She knew that kind of short-sighted thinking often came back to bite one in the arse—with a vengeance. She hoped they were prepared for that possibility.

But now, it was time to perform her duty. “Let me put it to you this way. It would be better for everyone, especially yourself, if you were to turn around and head back home without delay.”

As the realisation apparently took root in his brain that her purpose really was to rout but not kill him, a smidgen of boldness crept into his backbone. He puffed himself up in protest. “But I can’t leave.”

Naymeen wanted to laugh at his sudden burst of indignation. “Anyone from a sanctioned planet is banned from Gheldar—and from every other planet within the jurisdiction of the League. You need to leave, immediately.”

My Sexy Saturday -- A Moment Too Hot To Contain

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday. Today I present to you a Sexy excerpt from one of my favorite leading male heroes, Marine Colonel Medoro Keegan. He is a strong a determined man, who's had his heart broken before. But when Caitlin enters his life, he believes he is ready to let her in. Their chemistry is undeniable and their love is forbidden. Will they overcome the odds?

Excerpt

Keegan paused, trying not to stumble over his words. “I’d like to apologize for my behavior the other day. It was unprofessional and uncalled for.”

It wasn’t much of an apology but it was all he could muster at the moment. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, he wondered if she would become emotional and demand an answer for what had taken place? Or scream sexual harassment…. He braced himself, waiting for a response.

“I’m glad it happened," Caitlin replied.

Shocked, his eyes widened and his pulse quickened. He swallowed, forcing moisture into his dry throat. Her frank words hit him deep. The hole his wife left in his heart ached, almost killing him inside. Relationships, attachment, belonging to someone, needing another—those feelings were supposed to have been dead along with his wife. And here they were again, rearing their ugly head. Women were too dangerous to love because they wound up abandoning you, leaving you to face life alone.

He glanced at his left hand. He used to wear his gold wedding band as a tribute to the love he and his wife shared. Then it became a constant reminder that she was gone. Now he wondered if he was ready to have a ring on that finger again. Fear entered his heart.

“I’m not sure I am,” he replied, softly.

“I really am.” The sincerity in her voice was evident. “It was the first time I felt alive since I’ve been here, and I don’t regret it one bit.”

He didn’t know what to say. His first clash with her had distracted him to the point of madness. It had been some time since he’d had such a powerful encounter with a woman. The last one to push his buttons that hard, he wound up marrying.

Caitlin was stubborn, mouthy, somewhat insubordinate, and filled with an innate force he had not seen in sometime. She had no problem in standing up for who or what she believed in. He didn’t like the feelings she stirred in him. He dare not consider them. Especially with her. She was a subordinate and a cryo. It was against regulations for him to even think of starting anything with her.

He shifted his stance. His heart pounded in his ears and breaths quickened. “Ms. Driskoll. I don’t know what you expect from me.”

“Nothing more than I expect from myself.”

Before he knew it, he crossed the distance between them and swept her into a searing kiss. He caressed her body, touching every curve. Arousal sped through his body like lightening causing his cock to swell and become rigid. He dug his fingers in her hair and hungrily dominated her mouth, his tongue delving in, playing with hers. Gripping her waist, he lifted her up and placed on her the table. She arched her neck exposing her creamy skin. He nipped and bit at it enjoying its smoothness. He reached up and caressed her breasts, a need filling him to see them, taste them.

Falling For A Clone

Thank you so much, Clare for having me on your blog! It’s such a pleasure to be here.

Hello everyone! Today I’ve come to talk about Made For Her. In many of my other stories, I’ve dealt with the idea of falling in love with aliens. But Made For Her is the first story I wrote about a clone. In this story, Onatria Labs has been contracted by the government to create clones for the military, who are desperate for people to enlist. The clones are not considered human, but property of the military and trained then used as they see fit.

While there are anarchy groups who object to cloning, the government ploughs on. All is well until Colonel Mikayla Jones objects to a clone in her new squadron. She had no problem training them before, but none of them looked like her late husband.

Even after she refuses to train the new squadron, the clone of Daniel, Dare, seeks her out for extra training sessions, making it impossible for Mikayla to separate her heart from her job. But she has to. Not only is he below her rank, he is a clone. And she could never fall for a clone.

When writing this story, I reached inside my own feelings and beliefs to contemplate how I would react in Mikayla’s position. Because it’s not every day that we meet a clone of a loved one. I hope you enjoy this story!

Blurb:

After terrorists murder the love of her life, Colonel Mikayla Jones trains squadron after squadron of the clones he brought to life, to take to the skies. When she discovers a young clone of her husband in her newest class, her world spins out of control. How can she command the look-a-like when she can’t help but yearn for him to fill an ache in her heart?

Dare was created to be the best. As the first Daniel clone to leave Onatria labs, he needs to prove he is more than just a DNA copy. To do that, he must rely on the wife of the man who donated his genes. But when she refuses to train him, Dare faces discharge and returning to the labs. Can he convince Colonel Jones to finish his training and find a way into her bed? Or will long kept secrets unhinge the entire clone project?

Excerpt:

Colonel Jones eyed each one of her new cadets, examining the neatness of their uniforms, while inspecting for signs of stress or over-anxiousness. She’d never seen the telltale muscle twitches or sweats in any previous clones, only in human-borns, but she had to look for them anyway.

The first generation of clones didn’t live long enough to become cadets. Their hearts gave out within a year after incubation. But the scientists at Onatria had plowed on, utilizing more of Daniel’s research, speeding up the aging process with hormones to create the perfect generation she saw before her.

She’d had female clones in previous squadrons, but the government filled the one in front of her with testosterone-driven masculinity. If she’d been younger, she’d have a hard time concentrating. But her days of crushes and fantasies were long over. She was devoted to serving her country and planet, and nothing else.
That didn’t stop her from going out on the town for a stress-relieving fuck from time to time. But these young men in front of her appeared so virile, sure to last longer than any of her previous sexual partners.

No. As junior officers, and more importantly, as clones, they were off limits.

Inspecting them gave her the opportunity to check out more than their fatigues and tics, but if they knew her thoughts, they’d walk all over her. She’d be done.

They were of varying nationalities, builds, and heights, all fit to serve the planet. None of the cadets revealed any indication he would put the lives of others in jeopardy. This will be an easy squadron, every one of them ready to fly in a matter of weeks.

She reached the last cadet and froze. Her stomach clenched. No, they couldn’t have!
She pivoted on her heel and rushed off the tarmac, leaving the squad without an instructor.

Futuristic Romance Sneak Peek -Cold Warriors

For those of you who may have read the original release, this version has been expanded and the love scenes have been kicked up.

I know I have been predicting its release for a long time but this the real thing, its in the editors hands right now.

Favorite quote by the hero Keegan:

“This war never ceases to surprise me,” Hollis quipped pacing with her hands clasped behind her back. “We've just received word that another suspected enemy outpost has been found inside our territory.”
He likened it to finding a squatter in your back yard pissing on your grass. You have two problems: first - getting rid of the pee and second-- the dead body.

Six Sentence Sunday- An Excerpt From 'Cold Warriors'

Caitlin looked into his eyes, her heart pounded.  She was mesmerized by his gaze. Keegan's hand moved slowly through her hair, sweeping it behind her shoulders.  He leaned forward, his nose inches away from hers. Their lips met slowly and pressed firmly together. His mouth parted, as he gently met her velvety tongue with his, unleashing a passionate kiss.
