Spring Is In the Air Blog Hop!

Yes Spring is finally here!  And for most it means the end of cold weather and the beginning of lawn mowing season!

We usually associate it is a time of rebirth and the awakening of the world from a long winter slumber.  Many cultures often associated this time of year with fertility or mating rituals associated with a hope for a bountiful future harvest.

Not such a bad thing if you are a farmer.  Or a bird or animal looking for a mate.  The hard part about finding a mate is getting the right one to look your way.

In the animal kingdom, generally its the male who exhibits all the fancy behavior and beautiful plumage in his constant attempt to ensure the passage of his genetic signature to the next generation.

Do you like his plumage?

But we females, as the bearer of the offspring, have an important role in not only choosing the right mate but showing them we have not only the looks but the strength to make it as a potential mate and/or bearer of offspring.

Often our choice in a mate is subconscious one.  From the look of their eyes, to the shape of their body to the gentle tickle of their scent against our nose.  It all tells us about the genes that our suitor carries.

Did you even know the human penis has been selected through sperm competition. It has been selected to displace seminal fluids that were implanted within the female reproductive tract by a rival male.  The thrusting action which occurs during sexual intercourse manually removes seminal fluid out of the cervix area from a previous mating.

Okay so what if you haven't gotten that far?  And you see the man of your dreams and you want him but you don't know if you can have him?  Not to mention the fact that he has a habit of seeing you when you look like hell in a world where you're treated like dirt?

That's what Caitlin Driskoll encounters when she Lt. Col. Medoro Keegan.

In my book Cold Warriors

Caitlin Driskoll is left in cryogenic stasis for nearly a century.  Awakened and drafted into a war she knows nothing about.  She is expected to defend a world where her kind is despised and expendable.  Too her surprise, she discovers love and respect from the one man who can’t be associated with her.

Lieutenant Colonel Medoro Keegan has spent a lifetime in the Marines. With no family to speak of, the Corps and his ship, the USS Blanchard, are all the loved ones he needs…until Caitlin sparks a fire within, that threatens to consume him if he doesn’t walk away.

Will he choose a life of certainty in the only world he knows or give it all to Caitlin and run the risk of losing someone, yet again?
