A Different Kind of Cosplay by Lucy Felthouse

Blurb:

Zachary has a dilemma. His girlfriend, Reese, has a special birthday coming up soon and he has absolutely no clue what to get for her. It doesn’t help that Zach does not share or really understand Reese’s biggest hobby—comic books, superheroes and everything that goes with them. Zach raids Reese’s DVD collection for inspiration, and what he finds there gives him an idea…possibly the best one he’s ever had.

Sure, Reese has fantasized about her favorite superheroes. All those muscles and rakish smiles are to die for. She didn’t think Zach would ever really understand, though. But he proves her wrong in the best way possible.

Excerpt:

Zachary sighed at the calendar entry in his phone, which was reminding him for the third time about Reese’s upcoming birthday. And it wasn’t just any birthday—she was going to be thirty.

There were perks to dating a doctor—the uniform was pretty hot, for example—but when that doctor had no particular fondness for jewelry, flowers or chocolates, buying her presents was nigh-on impossible. And because of her work schedule, a surprise weekend away was out of the question. He’d long since learned to always keep the receipts.

Most people get their partners something to do with their hobbies or interests. However, Reese was even awkward in that regard. Her main hobby was so complex that Zach didn’t have the first idea what to get her to do with it—Reese was an uber-geek. Films, graphic novels, collectibles, all that jazz.

Obviously he could just ask what she wanted, then go out and get it, but then it wouldn’t be a surprise. And it was too easy—he wanted her to know he’d really made the effort.

Snoozing the calendar reminder once more, Zach threw the phone onto the sofa, then walked over and started rooting through their combined film collection for something to watch after dinner, which was almost ready. Reese was on-shift at the hospital until silly o’clock, so he had the house to himself and could watch whatever he liked. An action movie it was, then.

Running his fingers along the spines of the DVDs and Blu-rays, he suddenly paused. The Avengers leaped out at him, for some reason. He’d seen snippets of it before, as Reese watched it pretty frequently. The parts he’d seen hadn’t looked too bad, actually. It was essentially an action film, he decided, but with superheroes in it.

He pulled the case off the shelf, an idea beginning to form. Maybe if he watched it beginning to end, he’d seen what drew Reese into that world so much, why she was so fascinated by the films, the graphic novels and so on. Even if he didn’t get it, though, maybe it would still give him some inspiration for a gift. He had nothing better to do that evening, in any case, so it was certainly worth a try.

After putting the disc in the player, he headed into the kitchen to see how his dinner was coming along. A meal in front of the television was the order of the day, it seemed.

A few minutes later, he settled onto the sofa with his lasagna and garlic bread, a bottle of beer on the table next to him. Time for some Avengers action.

Within half an hour, he’d ascertained that the film wasn’t just for geeks. In fact it was easy to see why it had such a wide appeal—the cast was supremely attractive, whatever gender you were into, the plot was interesting and the dialogue seriously witty. He’d already developed quite the crush on the Black Widow, and Nick Fury’s right-hand woman had a lovely pert backside.

Trying to put himself in Reese’s shoes, Zach looked at the male characters. Okay, when it came to this film, straight women clearly had more eye-candy than they knew what to do with. He vaguely remembered a bunch of crazy stuff going around on the Internet about Loki—even the villain of the piece had sex appeal, for heaven’s sake! So much so that it had spilled over into even Zach’s limited social media presence. He barely used Facebook, and he’d never gotten the hang of Twitter. And yet he knew about the rabid fangirls.

That was another score for The Avengers, then—truly mass-market appeal. If only there were mass-market gift-buying options.

Sighing, he tried to empty his mind and concentrate on the film. The more he tried to force an idea to present itself, the less likely it would be to happen. He’d just enjoy the entertainment and keep his fingers crossed that his subconscious provided something useful.

Once he’d made the decision, it wasn’t difficult to get sucked back into the narrative. It was engaging, easy-going and fun. Zach surprised himself by thoroughly enjoying the entire thing. Reese would be pleased when the next film came out at the cinema and he offered to go along with her.

He’d keep his new found admiration quiet for now, though. He didn’t want to arouse her suspicions, although she was bound to know he was planning something for her milestone birthday.

The question remained—what the hell could he do or buy to blow her away?

A Little Kink To Start Your Day Right! Kinky Toes; A Quick Erotic M/F Short by Suz deMello

This short story was the first I wrote about a form of sexual desire in which I have no interest whatsoever. Okay, I like a pair of pretty shoes as much as the next girl, but I’m not sexually aroused by feet or footwear.

The first time a man sucked my toes was after a hot and sweaty bike ride, and candidly, I thought the experience a little disgusting. Not for me—I wasn’t doing the sucking—but for the guy. Nevertheless, he seemed to really enjoy it, despite the unsanitary nature of the activity. (He was a doctor, too, which made what he did even more puzzling).

But each to his own, I say, and if someone indulges a fetish and doesn’t hurt anyone else (except with consent, of course) who am I to judge?

I wrote Kinky Toes during a time when I was exploring ways to keep the writing fresh by focusing on fetishes I hadn’t previously written about. Queen’s Quest (http://www.ellorascave.com/queen-s-quest.html) is another story from that period, and it posits a society in which exhibitionism is rampant and public sex perfectly acceptable—the conformation of the futuristic planet I invented is such that birthrates are low, and anything to get new births is encouraged.

I’m neither an exhibitionist nor a foot fetishist, so both stories were a departure for me. I didn’t know anything about foot or shoe fetishes, so I had to research both subjects.  Kinky Toes is the result.

Here’s what it’s about:

Genre: contemporary erotic romance

Shelbie Nathanson resents Rick Saldano's ascension to C.O.O. of her family's shoe company, a job she's wanted all her life. But she can't resist his red-hot, sexy style of lovemaking... one that focuses on her passion: shoes.

Here’s a snippet to sharpen your interest:

In the cab, Shelbie became even more aware of Rick, if that were possible. He was big. Not fat, but solid, sizable, with broad shoulders and an obviously muscular body beneath his suit. She couldn’t help sneaking a peek at his crotch. The suit’s fabric had pulled tight as he sat, tight enough that she could guess that six-foot-two Rick’s body parts were proportional.

Her mood had definitely changed.

He leaned closer, hesitated the tiniest fraction of a second before he brushed his lips against her cheek. Shocked, she jerked away, but he didn’t move, his gaze still pinned to hers.

She didn’t move either. The air felt thick, as though the very atmosphere were holding her in place. They sat staring at each other until the cabbie harrumphed. “Where to, folks?”

After giving the cabbie an address she didn’t recognize, Rick didn’t say anything during the cab ride. Rigid with a tension she couldn’t define, Shelbie didn’t have a word to say either, not even when he picked up one of her feet and rested it in his lap, atop his very substantial hard-on. She wiggled her foot and the stiletto heel slid across the bulge in his pants.

He sighed, so she did it again. Then again. He clamped his lips tight shut, apparently stifling a groan as his erection swelled even more.

He slid one finger along the exposed arch of her foot. It didn’t feel ticklish, exactly, but was tingly, the kind of tingle her pussy liked.

He inserted his finger into her toe cleavage. The spot between the big toe and the next was tiny, smaller than his index finger. His abrupt thrust hurt a little, and Shelbie had a mad vision of the time when she’d lost her virginity. Her pussy had been too small for the tool her then-boyfriend had wielded.

She had that same feeling now, an ache as something big intruded into her body’s smaller space. She tried to pull away but he persisted, twisting his finger until he’d pushed in as far as her shoe would allow.

He sawed his finger in and out and she bit down on her lower lip to avoid moaning aloud. She flung her head back, panting as he rotated his finger.

They arrived outside a row of brownstones near the park. He slipped his finger out of her toe cleavage and gave her foot a squeeze. An awkwardness she hadn’t felt since teenage sex overcame her as she dropped her feet to the cab’s floor. Rick paid the fare, ushered her out of the taxi and into the building…his building, she supposed.

The moment they were alone in the elevator, she sprang at him and pressed her lips against his. He wrapped his arms around her and held her tight as his tongue invaded her mouth. She sucked at him hard, shoving her hands into his hair. He tasted and felt divine.

Her body was aflame, all light and heat, and he picked her up as though she were made of insubstantial fire, weighing nothing...

Is Amazon a Threat to our First Amendment rights? By Suz DeMello

Amazon is known for its ruthless business practices—it doesn’t merely squeeze competition, it strangles it until it dies.

Amazon currently sells 40% of all new books sold in the USA. Their percentage of the market in ebooks is even larger—perhaps 66% according to the above-cited Salon.com article.

Amazon is not merely a book seller, but a publisher, and it favors its own imprints and minimizes the ability for readers to find its competitors. The most famous case on point is that of Hachette.

Check this URL for Stephen Colbert’s clips on the issue:

http://thecolbertreport.cc.com/search?keywords=Hachette

And the below is quoted from a letter sent by a group of authors to Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and its BOD:

About six months ago...Amazon began sanctioning Hachette authors' books. These sanctions included refusing preorders, delaying shipping, reducing discounting, and using pop-up windows to cover authors' pages and redirect buyers to non-Hachette books.

These sanctions have driven down Hachette authors' sales at Amazon.com by at least 50 percent and in some cases as much as 90 percent. These sales drops are occurring across the board: in hardcovers, paperbacks, and e-books. (http://www.authorsunited.net/)

Well-known is Amazon’s dislike of sexy covers, adult-oriented books and erotica; it seems to especially target purveyors of steamy books. Though Amazon touts its independent publishing program as a boon for writers, many indie published authors, especially in erotic romance, complain that Amazon’s search engine has made it difficult if not impossible for readers to find their books.

The Kindle Unlimited program has cut further into their book revenues. Ellora’s Cave, one of the most prominent publishers of steamy and erotic romance on the web, has downsized radically, citing a massive drop in Amazon sales of its books as the reason.

The loyalty of many customers to Amazon is misplaced. For example, Amazon often does not feature the best online price for a book or other item. A couple of cases in point:

On 30 Sept, the price of one of my shorties, Highland Vampire, on Amazon was $2.51. The price at Harlequin’s site was $2.39.

Being the daughter of Brits, I’m a tea drinker and lately have been into using loose teas (they really do make a better cuppa). Initially I had been purchasing from Amazon—isn’t that the place we’ve all become accustomed to checking first? Then I went to the Twinings Tea site and found that I’d been grotesquely overpaying.  My fave Darjeeling at Amazon costs $8.24 and it’s an “add-on item,” which is some sort of irritating practice at Amazon—I couldn’t get the tea without buying other stuff, and I couldn’t find a work-around for that bit of Amazonian weirdness.

The same tea is almost half the price--$4.49—at Twinings.

Like many, I have come to rely on Amazon for so much! I listen to music on my Amazon music player on both laptop and cellphone, and download music from Amazon as well. I’m an Amazon affiliate. I also buy books for my Kindle Paperwhite, which I love, from Amazon.

But maybe it’s time to cut the cord. Why should I fund an entity that seeks to exploit me, maybe even put me out of business?

I’ll probably take down my Amazon affiliate ads—that won’t hurt, as they’ve never earned me a penny. I’ve changed my email signature line, which used to direct folks to my Amazon author pages, to instead include my website and blog. Other changes will be harder.

I’m an Ellora’s Cave author. I also have books placed with two other publishers that have disappointed me in myriad ways—see these links:

http://www.harlequinlawsuit.com/

and scroll down to #9 at

http://absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194729--scroll

So I want to go indie. But Createspace and KDP are fabulous platforms for self-publishing. How ethical is it, given my concerns, to use those platforms?

And beyond my personal worries, there’s the greater problem. Amazon sells a huge number of books, films, music and other creative and factual works.

Should one entity control so much of what goes into our minds and thoughts?

A Bit Of Sherlock Holmes Love For All The Fans; Sherlock's Scandal; A Historical, Erotic FanFic Romance by Suz DeMello

Suz deMello’s latest is Sherlock’s Scandal! Now that courts have declared Sherlock and Watson to be public domain, Sherlock fanfic will no doubt take off. Suzie’s story imagines a xxx-rated romance between Sherlock and The Woman—the American opera singer Irene Adler.

Here’s what it’s about:

A bored Sherlock is a dangerous Sherlock. His twin vices of cocaine and sex could prove his undoing, until he meets his match in elusive, enigmatic Irene Adler. Hiding her heart, Irene deserts Sherlock in the midst of their affair. He schemes to win her back, but the lady won’t come easily to hand. Instead, she forces him to compete for honor, glory, and love.

Here’s a snippet to sharpen your appetite:

If perhaps I had Watson’s talent as a wordsmith, I could describe her flawless beauty. The dusky rose nipple contrasted with her pearly skin, with the slightest sexual blush beginning to color the breast. I wanted to bite the tip, redden it, hear her scream my name when I entered her. I nibbled at the ripened peach, then suckled, the nipple hardening on my tongue. I bared the other breast to suck on it also, creating a matching set. I sat back and admired my work, loving the sight of her white globes tipped by rosy-red nipples glowing in the dim, shifting light inside the cab.

Ignoring the possible damage to my trousers, I knelt on the floor of the rattling hansom and lifted her voluminous velvet skirt.

She relaxed against the cab’s padded squabs with a sigh. “Yessss…”

I found my way through petticoats and pantaloons to her gartered thighs, prying them apart so I could reach the prize. With closed eyes—it was too dark to see anything—I kissed her tender flesh, up, up, up, until I discovered the slit in her drawers that led to the softest, sweetest place, her richly scented and furred mons, hidden treasure buried within rustling swaths of silk and velvet.

I rested my face on her mount of Venus for a moment, glorying in her, breathing her unique fragrance, and thanking the goddess of love, who had surely blessed me this evening.

A Favorite by Author Tielle St. Clare, Her Paranormal Menage (MMF) Erotic Romance, Jackson's Rise. Wolf Shapeshifter Fiction

A Sequel to Her Popular Book Maxwell's Fall, Jackson's Rise is an awesome read! It's Book Four in the Wolf's Heritage Series.  (Sourced from the author site and cover blurb.)

Blurb:

Jackson has always been the brother in the background, but when his mate is threatened, he rises to the occasion.

When a phone call sends Jackson to Las Vegas to check on his brother, he’s not overly surprised to find Max gone. Jackson’s big surprise is waking up with a gorgeous naked Vegas showgirl on top of him.
Dani can’t believe the hot, hung stud in bed with her isn’t her soon-to-be-ex fiancé, Max. But soon the truth appears. They might look alike but Jackson’s quiet strength is polar opposite to his playboy brother. It appears she’s been sleeping with the wrong brother all this time…

When Reign, a Cat Shapeshifter, shows up needing Dani’s help to trap a killer, Jackson’s protective instincts kick in. The Cat community is dangerous to outsiders. To guard Dani, Jackson must become Reign’s lover. Though he’s never been with another man, Jackson will do whatever it takes to protect his mate.

Excerpt:

“You can’t be serious.” Dani stared at Jackson but he didn’t move, didn’t react. Didn’t laugh and say it was all a joke. “Have you seen what I’m wearing?” She pointed to the skimpy outfit hanging on her closet door. There wasn’t much to it. The dress was fire engine red, glittered and would cover her ass but just barely. The top was a halter top that dipped low between her breasts. Her breasts would be free to sway and move with every step she took. Since they were going to this event as an upscale party crowd, the outfit was perfect, sexy and exotic.

Which made Jackson’s request even more insane.

“You want me to wear granny panties underneath that outfit?”

“Yes.”

She looked at the underwear Jackson held in his hands. They were pale yellow and almost full briefs. The legs were cut a little high but the waistband would land right at her waist and everything would be fully covered. What was sexy about these?

“They aren’t even mine.” At least she didn’t think she had anything that ugly in her drawers.

“Yes they are. I told you I would replace the ones from last night.”

She squinted and glared. “And you bought granny panties?”

He nodded

“Jackson…”

Reign stepped out of the bathroom rubbing his hair dry with a towel. Another towel hung low around his waist, leaving his chest bare and so delectable she wanted to run her tongue across the distinct lines of his muscles. Heat swelled into her pussy and she pressed her lips together to crush a groan.

“You’re supposed to be getting dressed.”

Surely Reign would be an ally in this.

“Reign, you decide. Jackson wants me to wear those—“ She pointed to the frumpy yellow underpants. “When we go out tonight.” Knowing she had to tip the scales in her favor, she picked up the pair of panties she’d been planning to wear. “I want to wear these.” She stretched the waistband and showed the sexy lace confection. Barely there, the panties hung on her hips and were cut high, leaving large amounts of skin uncovered.

Reign’s eyes tightened and he looked at both pairs of underwear. Then he looked at her. “Are you planning on showing anyone your panties tonight?”

She scoffed. “No.”

The eyebrows on both men rose and they stared pointedly at her.

“Well, except for you two.”

“And we already know that your pussy is gorgeous. Wear those.” He nodded to the pair Jackson was holding. Dani felt her mouth drop open.

An Exclusive Excerpt of Erotica Author Elaine Lowe's "Magic Eights"

Here is an exclusive excerpt of 'Magic Eights' for Clare and Her Readers!

She climbed out of the tub and the rush of air over her skin was lovely and cooling making her tingle with need. She grit her teeth, determined to ignore it. Maybe a dull technical journal?

After a towel dry with the super plush terrycloth she indulged in, her hair was efficiently wrapped up in a towel. Then she donned the terribly ugly but comfy maroon silk robe that her mother had gotten her for Christmas last year. Why her mother got her freckled, red-haired daughter things in such colors, Susanna never understood. Still, it was short enough that Will liked to admire her legs and the August heat was such that she would really rather have worn nothing at all.

One of the benefits of taking a searing hot bath in August, was that it fooled her body into thinking that the air was cool, at least for a little while. Then she’d simply retreat into the air conditioning of the bedroom and curl up with a book or a technical manual and try not to stare
beseechingly at Will to come and fuck her some more.

She sighed softly and opened the door, determined to find out the source of all the
commotion outside.

The hot, humid air of the bathroom gave way to the hot, stuffy air of the hallway. It wasn’t supposed to get this hot in San Francisco! It was supposed to be foggy and overcast and sweater weather in the middle of “summer”. It was not supposed to be hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk.

She cursed the weather gods and the condo complex’s rules that only allowed them to put an air conditioner in the bedroom. She would have followed Will into the bedroom and tried not to think about jumping his bones, but he must be in the kitchen judging from all the noise. Given how much he hated the heat, that seemed very unusual.

Sure enough, Will was right there, in the kitchen, in the midst of cooking one of his
incredibly intricate meals. Practically naked—except for his apron. And, Will was right
there, in the kitchen, standing at the sink and scrubbing away at a mountain of pans.

Again, almost bare, except for an apron and apparently boxer-briefs that cupped his great ass with TLC.

Soapy water dripped onto the kitchen floor from the overloaded sink and the scent of sautéed garlic wafted up into the air as she stared at the men in her kitchen. Two men. Both completely familiar. Her husband and what appeared to be his twin. Unless Will and his family had been hiding something from her for years.

“I’m dreaming. I fell asleep in the tub and I’m about to drown any second.”

Will…Wills…oh hell, both of them looked up at her with a smile. One said, “Hi, sweetheart!”

And the other, “Are you parboiled enough yet?”

Susanna was pretty sure that if she had been the fainting type, she would have collapsed. As it was she pulled out a chair from the kitchen table and slumped into it, not noticing that her robe gaped open invitingly.

She swallowed and decided to act nonchalant. “Hi…honey. What are you doing out here? I thought you were going to work in the bedroom?”

Chef Will waggled his eyebrows at her as he expertly flipped a pan of mushrooms that were searing to a golden brown. “I know you like my work in the bedroom, but I thought I’d cook you up a nice dinner. I know you hate to cook on a weekday.”

“But it’s Saturday…”

Her words seemed to slide right off of him and he went right back to stirring his pans. Dishwasher Will turned and grinned, “And I wanted to get the dishes done. You know I hate to leave the kitchen a mess if I’m going on a journey.”

She could practically hear the rim shot for the punch line coming, and set him up for the follow-through, though she was almost dreading to hear the conclusion of this setup, “And where are you going then? Crazy?”

“Oh sweetheart, I’m heading down a long, dark, warm tunnel to heaven, and I plan on taking you along for the ride…”

She blushed hotly, “Oh, that was bad. Really bad.”

“I think in the realm of pickup lines, I would be court jester.” He turned back to the dishes, his gorgeous ass barely covered by a pair of black briefs.

“I’ve always preferred the jester to the king. He can make you laugh and has time to give a girl a really good time. Much less stress.”

“See, I knew there was a reason I adored you.” He winked at her and got back to scrubbing a pot that Chef Will must have just finished with. They were a perfect team, sliding past each other in the tiny kitchen with synchronicity to be envied, but they never seemed to acknowledge each other’s existence.

Her brain was simultaneously thinking a thousand things, “What the hell is going on?” or some version thereof took up most of that thousand, but somewhere in there was, “Damn, my husband has a nice ass,” “Wonder what he’s cooking for dinner, it smells good,” and quite prominently,

“Two! The things I could do with two of him!”
